Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup cooked bacon or bacon bits (approx. 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled)
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cheddar cheese soup
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 small onion, diced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks.
- If using onion, add the diced onion to the skillet when the beef is about halfway cooked. Continue cooking until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Season the beef mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the beef is cooked through, drain any excess fat.
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef (with onions if used), cooked bacon or bacon bits, condensed cheddar cheese soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of the grated cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the beef mixture.
- Bake the Casserole:
- Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Add the Cheese:
- About 5 minutes before the casserole is done baking, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese over the top.
- Return the casserole to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
