Breakfast Sliders with Sausage, Eggs, and Cheese perfectly delicious:
Breakfast Sliders with Sausage, Eggs, and Cheese
Ingredients
- 1 package Hawaiian rolls (12-count, sliced in half horizontally)
- 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (adjust to your preference)
- 10 large eggs
- ½ cup milk (for fluffy eggs)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- ½ stick butter (¼ cup), melted
- ½ cup maple syrup (or your favorite syrup)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish or sheet pan by lightly greasing it with cooking spray or a thin layer of butter. This helps prevent the sliders from sticking.
2. Prepare the Rolls:
- Using a sharp bread knife, carefully slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half to create a top and bottom layer. Do not separate the individual rolls—keeping them together makes assembly easier.
3. Brown the Sausage:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble the 1 pound of breakfast sausage into the skillet, cooking it until browned and cooked through. Stir occasionally for even cooking, breaking the sausage into small pieces.
- Once fully cooked, remove the skillet from heat and drain any excess grease. Set the sausage aside in a bowl.
4. Prepare the Scrambled Eggs:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 10 eggs and ½ cup milk until the mixture is fully blended, and the yolks and whites are well combined. Add a pinch of salt and pepper if desired.
- In a non-stick skillet, cook the egg mixture over medium heat. Stir slowly and continuously, making sure the eggs are cooked but still soft. Remove from heat once they reach a soft scramble stage (they’ll finish cooking in the oven). Set aside.
5. Assemble the Sliders:
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
- First Cheese Layer: Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the bottom rolls. This layer of cheese helps hold the eggs in place.
- Egg Layer: Spread the scrambled eggs over the cheese layer, distributing them evenly.
- Sausage Layer: Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the eggs.
- Final Cheese Layer: Add another layer of shredded cheddar over the sausage. This extra layer of cheese will melt and hold the fillings together.
- Place the top half of the rolls on top to complete the sliders.
6. Make the Butter-Syrup Glaze:
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt ½ stick of butter. Stir in ½ cup maple syrup until the mixture is smooth and combined.
- Using a pastry brush or spoon, spread the syrup-butter mixture generously over the top of the rolls. This adds a sweet and savory finish to each slider and enhances the flavor of the buns.
7. Bake the Sliders:
- Cover the dish with foil (to keep the rolls from browning too quickly) and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, and the tops of the rolls are golden brown. Keep a close eye on them to prevent over-browning.
8. Serve and Enjoy:
- Once baked, let the sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing. Use a sharp knife to cut along the seams of the rolls, creating individual sliders.
- Serve warm and enjoy! These sliders are delicious on their own, but you can also add a little extra syrup or hot sauce on the side for dipping if you like.
These breakfast sliders are ideal for quick dinners or gatherings, and they bring together that perfect mix of savory, cheesy goodness with a hint of sweetness. Enjoy!
