Cheap Dessert Idea: Banana Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk (Eagle brand)
  • 1 can (16 oz) of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 box (5.1 oz) of instant vanilla pudding mix (Jell-O brand)
  • 2 cans of water (use the empty sweetened condensed milk can to measure)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • 1 box of Nilla wafers

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixing Bowl:
    • Get a large mixing bowl ready for combining the ingredients.
  2. Combine Sweetened Condensed Milk and Water:
    • Pour the sweetened condensed milk into the mixing bowl.
    • Use the empty sweetened condensed milk can to measure two cans of water and add them to the bowl.
    • Stir until the sweetened condensed milk is fully dissolved in the water.
  3. Add Instant Pudding Mix:
    • Sprinkle the instant vanilla pudding mix into the bowl with the sweetened condensed milk mixture.
    • Use a whisk to combine the pudding mix thoroughly, ensuring there are no lumps.
    • Let the mixture sit for about 2 minutes to thicken slightly.
  4. Incorporate Heavy Whipping Cream:
    • Pour the heavy whipping cream into the pudding mixture.
    • Whisk the mixture again until it’s smooth and fully combined. The consistency should be thick and creamy.
  5. Layer the Pudding and Nilla Wafers:
    • Take a large serving dish or individual dessert cups for assembling the pudding.
    • Start with a layer of Nilla wafers at the bottom of the dish.
    • Pour a layer of the pudding mixture over the Nilla wafers, spreading it evenly.
    • Repeat the layering process: add another layer of Nilla wafers followed by more pudding.
    • Continue layering until all the pudding mixture is used, finishing with a layer of Nilla wafers on top.
  6. Chill the Pudding:
    • Cover the dish or dessert cups with plastic wrap.
    • Refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or until the pudding is well chilled and the Nilla wafers have softened.
  7. Serve with Whipped Cream:
    • Before serving, add a dollop of whipped cream on top of each portion.
    • Optionally, you can add a few extra Nilla wafers on top for garnish.
  8. Enjoy:
    • Serve the banana pudding chilled and enjoy this delightful, easy-to-make dessert!

Feel free to add sliced bananas between the layers for an extra banana flavor!
