Cheap Pizza Calzones!

Cheap Pizza Calzones 🍕

Ingredients:

  • Pillsbury Pizza Crust (Thin Crust) – $2.64
    • Note: Any frozen pizza crust will work! I’ve used other doughs for this meal before, and they worked just fine. I just grabbed thin crust because it’s what they had.
  • Armour Pepperoni – $2.50
  • Mozzarella Cheese – $2.38
    • You can add more ingredients if you like. We’ve added ground sausage before, and it was really good!

Total Cost: $7.52 before tax

Adding butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning mix brings the total to $9.22 before tax.

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F, or follow the instructions on your dough package.
  2. Prepare the baking sheet:
    • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
    • Spray the foil with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Roll out the dough:
    • Place the dough on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Roll it out evenly.
    • Cut the dough into 4 pieces (or more/less depending on your preference).
  4. Add the fillings:
    • Place a layer of pepperoni on each piece of dough.
    • Add mozzarella cheese on top of the pepperoni.
    • Continue layering pepperoni and cheese until you’re satisfied with the amount.
  5. Seal the calzones:
    • Fold the dough over to cover the fillings.
    • Press down the edges and front to seal.
    • Use a fork to press down along the edges for a complete seal.
  6. Create steam vents:
    • Cut 2-3 small slits in the top of each calzone.
  7. Prepare the topping:
    • Melt some butter.
    • Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the melted butter.
    • Brush this mixture all over the top of the calzones.
  8. Bake:
    • Place the calzones in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for approximately 12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serving:

  • Serve the calzones with your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Enjoy your delicious and budget-friendly meal!
