Cheap, Quick, and Tasty Donuts
Ingredients
- 1 can of refrigerated biscuits (8-count)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- Vegetable oil (enough for frying, about 2 inches deep in a pan)
Instructions
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar and 4 tablespoons of milk.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. Set aside.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep frying pan or pot to reach a depth of about 2 inches.
- Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test the oil by dropping a small piece of dough into it. If it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.
- Prepare the Biscuits:
- Open the can of biscuits and separate them.
- Use your fingers or a small round cutter (like the cap of a water bottle) to gently make a hole in the center of each biscuit to form a donut shape.
- Fry the Donuts:
- Carefully place a few biscuits into the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry each side for about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to flip them.
- Once both sides are golden brown, remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Glaze the Donuts:
- While the donuts are still warm, dip each one into the glaze, ensuring both sides are coated.
- Place the glazed donuts on a wire rack to let any excess glaze drip off and allow the glaze to set.
- Enjoy:
- Serve your donuts warm with a big glass of milk. They’re perfect for breakfast or a late-night snack!
Tips:
- Be careful when working with hot oil to avoid burns.
- You can customize your donuts by adding sprinkles, cinnamon sugar, or any other toppings you like after glazing.
- For an extra flavor twist, add a splash of vanilla extract to the glaze.
Enjoy your quick, cheap, and tasty homemade donuts!
