Cheesesteak Sliders with Steak Fries

Ingredients

  • For the Sliders:
    • 1 lb shaved steak
    • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
    • 6 slices provolone cheese
    • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
    • 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • For the Steak Fries:
    • 4 large russet potatoes
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak Fries:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Wash and cut the russet potatoes into thick wedges.
    • In a large bowl, toss the potato wedges with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
    • Optional: Garnish with chopped parsley.
  2. Cook the Shaved Steak:
    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Remove the onions from the skillet and set them aside.
    • In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to high.
    • Add the shaved steak to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Return the caramelized onions to the skillet and mix them with the cooked steak.
  3. Assemble the Sliders:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves on a baking sheet.
    • Evenly distribute the steak and onion mixture over the bottom halves of the slider buns.
    • Layer the provolone and mozzarella cheese slices over the steak mixture.
    • Place the top halves of the slider buns on top of the cheese.
    • Cover the sliders with aluminum foil to prevent the buns from drying out.
  4. Warm the Sliders:
    • Place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven and let them warm for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the sliders from the oven and let them sit for a minute before serving.
    • Serve the cheesesteak sliders with the freshly baked steak fries on the side.
