Chicken and Mushroom Creamy Delight
Ingredients:
- 2 large chicken breasts
- 3 cans (10.5 oz each) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can (7 oz) mushrooms (optional, but recommended)
- Milk (enough to achieve desired consistency, about 1 to 1.5 cups)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Cooked rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes (for serving)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces (approximately 1-inch cubes).
- Cook the Chicken:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken pieces to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Cook the chicken for about 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and has a nice golden-brown color on the outside.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- Once the chicken is fully cooked, reduce the heat to medium.
- Add the 3 cans of cream of mushroom soup to the skillet with the chicken. Stir well to combine.
- If using, add the can of mushrooms (drained) to the mixture. Stir to incorporate.
- Gradually add milk to the skillet, about 1/4 cup at a time, stirring continuously until you reach your desired consistency. The sauce should be creamy and slightly thick, but not too runny. You may need about 1 to 1.5 cups of milk, depending on your preference.
- Simmer the Mixture:
- Once the sauce reaches the desired consistency, reduce the heat to low.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together. Adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, and garlic powder if needed.
- Serve:
- Serve the creamy chicken and mushroom mixture over a bed of cooked rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
- Optional Garnish:
- For added flavor and presentation, you can garnish the dish with freshly chopped parsley or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
Enjoy your delicious and comforting meal!
