Easy and Filling Meatball Subs
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of sub bread (6-pack) – $3.48
- 1 bag of shredded mozzarella cheese (4 cups total) – $3.98 (used 2 cups)
- 1 bag of frozen meatballs – $5.86 (used 20 meatballs, about half the bag)
- 1 jar of marinara sauce – $1.25
Note: All ingredients were purchased from Walmart, except for the marinara sauce which was from Dollar Tree.
Directions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Meatballs and Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the frozen meatballs and the jar of marinara sauce.
- Heat the sauce and meatballs over medium heat.
- Allow the mixture to cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are heated through and tender.
- Assemble the Subs:
- Once the meatballs and sauce are ready, slice the sub bread if not pre-sliced.
- Place 5 meatballs into each sub roll, ensuring each meatball is generously coated with marinara sauce.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs in each sub.
- Bake the Subs:
- Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Serve:
- Remove the subs from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
- Enjoy your delicious and filling meatball subs!
Yield:
- This recipe makes 4 meatball subs.
Leftovers:
- If you find the subs too filling, as we did, save the leftovers for the next day. Simply reheat them in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
