Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls Recipe 😋
These yeast rolls are soft, fluffy, and perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re serving them with a holiday meal or just enjoying them with a bowl of soup, these rolls are sure to be a hit.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 45°C)
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons softened butter (or non-dairy equivalent)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
Step 1: Activate the Yeast
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Stir gently to dissolve.
- Add the sugar, salt, softened butter, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Mix everything together using a dough hook or whisk.
Step 2: Add the Flour
- Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, a little at a time, while mixing with the dough hook or a wooden spoon. Continue adding flour until the dough forms a soft ball. You may need to add the full 4 cups of flour depending on the humidity and type of flour you’re using.
- The dough should not be sticky, but it should be smooth and elastic.
Step 3: Knead the Dough
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for about 3-4 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough feels sticky, add a little more flour, but be careful not to add too much.
Step 4: First Rise
- Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for approximately 45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 5: Shape the Rolls
- After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into 12 even-sized rolls.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased 13×9-inch baking pan, leaving a little space between each roll.
Step 6: Second Rise
- Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes, until they puff up.
Step 7: Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for about 20 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
Step 8: Finishing Touch
- Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter (or non-dairy equivalent) for an extra touch of flavor and shine.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve these rolls warm with butter, jam, or even as a side to soups and stews. They’re also great for making sandwiches!
Enjoy your delicious, big, soft, and fluffy yeast rolls! 😋
