Famous Soft and Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Famous Soft and Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

The kids and I made my famous, soft, gooey, chocolate chip cookies tonight!!😋😋😋😋😋 I always end up doubling the recipe due to family and neighbors wanting some. I have been making these since I was 11, and perfected the recipe on my own. Follow the recipe exactly for the best results!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) softened butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, and 2 sticks of softened butter. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
    • Add 2 large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  3. Prepare Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, sift together 3 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
    • It’s important to measure the flour correctly: spoon it into your measuring cup and level it off with a butter knife to avoid packing it down.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well after each addition. (Tip: Add the dry mixture in about four parts to make it easier on your mixer.)
  5. Add Chocolate Chips:
    • Fold in 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, saving a few to press on top of the cookies before baking.
  6. Shape the Cookies:
    • Do not roll the dough into balls. Instead, grab imperfect blobs of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Press a few of the reserved chocolate chips on top of each cookie blob to make them look pretty.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-13 minutes. Baking time can vary by oven, so keep an eye on the cookies. They should be just golden around the edges and slightly golden on top. The centers might look slightly doughy, which is good – they will firm up as they cool.
  8. Cool:
    • Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes to cool and firm up before transferring them to a wire rack.
  9. Tips for Perfect Cookies:
    • Keep your dough in the fridge between baking batches. Warm dough will be sticky and result in flat, hard cookies.

Enjoy your delicious, soft, and gooey chocolate chip cookies! 😋
