School Breakfast Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pizza crust: You can use store-bought refrigerated pizza dough, or make your own if you prefer a homemade crust.
- 1 pack of white gravy mix: Typically found in the gravy aisle; prepare according to package instructions.
- 1 pack of shredded cheese: About 1 ½ to 2 cups. Mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix of both works well.
- 1 pack of breakfast sausage: 1/2 lb to 1 lb, crumbled and cooked until browned.
Seasoning (optional)
- Black pepper, to taste
- Red pepper flakes, for a bit of heat
- Chopped green onions, for garnish after baking (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet or pizza pan by lightly greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Pizza Crust:
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to fit your baking sheet or pizza pan.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
- Prepare the White Gravy:
- Follow the package instructions to make the white gravy, usually by whisking the mix with water or milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it thickens.
- Tip: Add a pinch of black pepper or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
- Cook the Sausage:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until it’s browned and cooked through. Break it up into crumbles as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease, and set the sausage aside.
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread the prepared white gravy evenly over the rolled-out pizza crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the gravy, ensuring it covers the sauce evenly.
- Distribute the cooked sausage crumbles on top of the cheese.
- Bake the Pizza:
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two.
- For a finishing touch, sprinkle with chopped green onions or a bit of extra black pepper if desired.
