Stromboli Recipe
A savory stuffed pizza dough with a buttery garlic herb glaze.
Ingredients:
- 1 can of pizza dough (a pre-made tube of pizza dough, like from Aldi or Pillsbury)
- Sliced cheese (about 6–8 slices; mozzarella, provolone, or a blend works great)
- Ham (thinly sliced, 4–5 slices depending on your preference)
- Pepperoni (around 15–20 slices or more, depending on how much you like)
- Salami (around 4-5 slices, optional if you want an extra meat layer)
- Pasta sauce (about 1/4 cup, or more depending on your liking)
- Leftover diced peppers (optional, for extra flavor and crunch)
- 4 tbsp butter (melted, for the garlic glaze)
- 1–2 garlic cloves, minced (or about 1 tsp of garlic powder)
- 1 tbsp parsley (dried or fresh, to taste)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (or more, to taste)
- Salt and pepper, to taste (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the dough: Unroll the pizza dough onto your prepared baking sheet. Stretch it out to form a rectangle shape, making sure the edges are even.
- Layer the ingredients:
- Place sliced cheese (mozzarella or provolone) evenly down the center of the dough.
- Add your sliced ham, pepperoni, and salami in layers over the cheese.
- Add a few spoonfuls of pasta sauce (about 2–3 tbsp), spreading it evenly over the meat and cheese.
- If you have any leftover diced peppers, sprinkle them over the filling for added flavor.
- Fold and seal:
- Fold the long sides of the dough over the filling, ensuring it is fully enclosed. Pinch the edges to seal the Stromboli tightly. Tuck in the ends to prevent the filling from spilling out during baking.
- Make the garlic herb butter:
- In a small bowl, melt 4 tbsp of butter in the microwave or on the stove.
- Add 1–2 minced garlic cloves (or garlic powder), 1 tbsp parsley, and 1 tsp Italian seasoning. Stir to combine. This will be brushed on top of the Stromboli for a flavorful glaze.
- Brush with garlic butter:
- Use a brush or spoon to coat the top of the Stromboli with the garlic herb butter mixture. Be generous to ensure the top gets golden and flavorful.
- Bake the Stromboli:
- Place the Stromboli in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked. The cheese inside should be melted and bubbly.
- Let it rest: Once out of the oven, let the Stromboli sit for about 10 minutes to cool slightly and firm up for easier slicing.
- Slice and serve:
- After resting, slice the Stromboli into pieces, similar to how you would slice a loaf of bread, and serve hot with extra pasta sauce for dipping (if desired).
