Old School Pizza Burgers
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 6 hamburger buns, split in half
- 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, crumble the ground beef.
- Cook the beef until it is browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Combine with Pizza Sauce:
- Lower the heat to medium-low.
- Stir in the pizza sauce and Italian seasoning until the ground beef is evenly coated.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Assemble the Pizza Burgers:
- Arrange the split hamburger buns on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the flat side of each bun half, spreading it evenly.
- Top with Cheese:
- Generously sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the beef mixture on each bun.
- Bake:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
- Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bottoms of the buns are slightly crispy.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let the pizza burgers cool for a minute or two before serving.
- Enjoy the delicious, nostalgic taste!
Leftover Tip:
- If you have leftovers, be cautious when reheating in the microwave. The cheese can become extremely hot and may burn your mouth. Heat them in short intervals and check the temperature before eating.
