Pepperoni Pizza Pasta

Pepperoni Pizza Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 1 box (16 oz) of pasta (we used 2 boxes to stretch the meal)
  • 1-2 jars (24 oz each) of pasta sauce (depending on how saucy you like it)
  • ¾ cup of pepperoni slices
  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Additional pizza toppings of your choice (optional; we kept it simple)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes).
    • Drain the pasta and set aside.
  3. Cook the ground beef:
    • While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks (about 6-8 minutes).
    • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Combine pasta and sauce:
    • Return the drained pasta to the pot.
    • Add the cooked ground beef and the jars of pasta sauce. Stir until well mixed.
    • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed (salt, pepper, or Italian seasoning).
  5. Assemble the casserole:
    • Lightly grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
    • Scoop the pasta mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it out evenly.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
    • Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
    • Add any additional pizza toppings you prefer (e.g., sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, etc.).
  6. Bake:
    • Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
    • Enjoy your Pepperoni Pizza Pasta with a side salad or garlic bread!

Tips:

  • You can use different types of pasta such as penne, rotini, or bow-tie pasta.
  • For a spicier kick, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
