Pepperoni Pizza Pasta
Ingredients:
- 1 box (16 oz) of pasta (we used 2 boxes to stretch the meal)
- 1-2 jars (24 oz each) of pasta sauce (depending on how saucy you like it)
- ¾ cup of pepperoni slices
- 1 lb of ground beef
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Additional pizza toppings of your choice (optional; we kept it simple)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven:
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes).
- Drain the pasta and set aside.
- Cook the ground beef:
- While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks (about 6-8 minutes).
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Combine pasta and sauce:
- Return the drained pasta to the pot.
- Add the cooked ground beef and the jars of pasta sauce. Stir until well mixed.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed (salt, pepper, or Italian seasoning).
- Assemble the casserole:
- Lightly grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
- Scoop the pasta mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
- Add any additional pizza toppings you prefer (e.g., sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, etc.).
- Bake:
- Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Enjoy your Pepperoni Pizza Pasta with a side salad or garlic bread!
Tips:
- You can use different types of pasta such as penne, rotini, or bow-tie pasta.
- For a spicier kick, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
