Quick and Easy Kiddo-Friendly Homemade Fried Pickles

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar of dill pickle slices (approximately 24 slices)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pickles:
    • Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the breading stick better.
  2. Make the Egg Wash:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream until well combined.
  3. Prepare the Breading:
    • In another shallow bowl, combine the plain bread crumbs and panko bread crumbs. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well to evenly distribute the seasonings.
  4. Bread the Pickles:
    • Dip each pickle slice into the egg wash, making sure it’s fully coated.
    • Then, dredge the pickle slice in the bread crumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the breading adheres to the pickle.
    • Place the breaded pickles on a plate or baking sheet until all slices are breaded.
  5. Fry the Pickles:
    • In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the skillet about 1/4 inch deep. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully add the breaded pickles to the hot oil in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet.
    • Fry the pickles for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the homemade fried pickles warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or spicy mayo.

Tips:

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Fry the pickles in batches to avoid overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
  • You can adjust the seasoning in the bread crumb mixture to suit your taste.

Enjoy your quick and easy kiddo-friendly homemade fried pickles!
