This family favorite is a delightful side dish that pairs perfectly with any main course. Even if you’re not a fan of green beans, this recipe might just change your mind!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed (or 2 cans of green beans, drained)
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 slices of bacon, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Green Beans:
- If using fresh green beans, wash and trim the ends.
- If using canned green beans, drain the water thoroughly.
- Cook the Bacon (Optional):
- If using bacon, place the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside. Leave the bacon drippings in the skillet.
- Sauté the Green Beans:
- In the same skillet (with or without bacon drippings), melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes if using fresh, or 3-4 minutes if using canned, stirring occasionally.
- Add Seasonings and Beef Broth:
- Season the green beans with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Add the beef broth and continue to cook for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the broth to reduce slightly.
- Combine with Bacon (Optional):
- If you cooked bacon, stir the crispy bacon pieces back into the skillet.
- Cook for an additional 2 minutes to combine all the flavors.
- Serve:
- Transfer the green beans to a serving dish.
- Enjoy this delicious side dish with your favorite main course!
Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste. This dish is a great way to elevate simple green beans into a flavorful and satisfying side. Enjoy!
