- 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos (about 10-12 oz, lightly crushed)
- 1 bag potato rounds (about 1 lb, cooked as directed)
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded cheese (Mexican blend, cheddar, or your favorite)
- 1 roll of crescent rolls (8-count)
- 2 Tbsp melted butter for brushing
Optional Toppings
- Sour cream
- Salsa or pico de gallo
- Chopped lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced jalapeños
- Green onions
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare Potato Rounds
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Arrange potato rounds on a baking sheet in a single layer and cook according to package directions until crispy. Once done, set them aside.
Step 2: Cook Ground Beef
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Drain excess grease from the skillet, then return beef to the pan.
- Add the taco seasoning to the beef along with 1/4 cup of water. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes, until seasoning is fully absorbed. Set aside.
Step 3: Assemble the Taco Bake
- Prepare a 9×13 baking dish by lightly greasing it or spraying with nonstick cooking spray.
- Layer the bottom with the cooked potato rounds, creating a single layer across the dish.
- Add the seasoned ground beef evenly over the potato rounds.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the ground beef layer, followed by a generous layer of crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos.
Step 4: Add Crescent Roll Topping
- Unroll the crescent dough and arrange the triangles over the top, covering as much as possible.
- Brush the crescents with the melted butter to help them bake up golden and flavorful.
Step 5: Bake
- Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Step 6: Serve
- Let the taco bake sit for a few minutes to set, then slice and serve.
- Add your favorite taco toppings like sour cream, salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, or jalapeños for added flavor.
