Taco Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups Minute Rice
- Crushed Doritos or tortilla chips
- Nacho cheese sauce
- Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, olives, jalapeños, diced tomatoes, etc.
Instructions:
- Brown the Ground Beef:
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet.
- Cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it is fully browned. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
- Once browned, drain the excess fat from the skillet.
- Add Seasoning and Rice:
- Sprinkle the taco seasoning packet over the cooked ground beef.
- Pour in 2 cups of water.
- Add 2 cups of Minute Rice to the skillet.
- Stir the mixture well to ensure the seasoning, water, and rice are evenly combined.
- Cook the Rice:
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once it reaches a boil, cover the skillet with a lid.
- Reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Prepare the Serving Base:
- While the rice mixture is cooking, crush Doritos or tortilla chips and spread them evenly in serving bowls.
- Assemble the Taco Rice:
- After the 5 minutes, uncover the skillet and fluff the rice mixture with a fork.
- Spoon the taco rice over the crushed Doritos or tortilla chips in each bowl.
- Drizzle nacho cheese sauce over the top of the taco rice.
- Add Toppings:
- Customize your taco rice with your favorite toppings such as shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, olives, jalapeños, and diced tomatoes.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve the taco rice immediately while it’s warm.
- You can also serve the taco rice as a dip with chips on the side for a fun and interactive meal.
