The kids and I made my famous, soft, gooey, chocolate chip cookies tonight!!
I always end up doubling the recipe due to family and neighbors wanting some. I have been making these since I was 11, and perfected the recipe on my own. I’ll include the recipe, but you must follow exactly, for them to turn out!
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks softened butter
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 lg eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Mix: granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter until smooth. Then add eggs 1 at a time (mixing the one egg in, then adding the 2nd) add vanilla, mix.
In a separate bowl mix flour (do not pack flour down, spoon into measuring cup, and then level off with a butter knife) baking soda and salt….then add it a little at a time to the wet mixture, mix, add a little more, mix, etc. (I usually add the dry mix in by fourths…. Makes it easier on the electric mixer.) ….after everything is mixed, fold in 1 bag of semi sweet choc chips. Save a few for pressing on top!
Do not roll the dough into balls! Just grab imperfect blobs, and place them. I then take 2 or 3 choc chips, and press them on top (makes them look pretty!)
Bake for roughly 12-13 ish minutes. Time will vary by oven… But they should just be golden around the edges, and a tiny bit on top. (They may look slightly doughy in the middle, that is GOOD. They are still fully cooked and will firm up) Let them sit on the pan for about 10 min to cool and firm up.
*Also, keep your dough in the fridge between baking batches. Warm dough will be sticky on your hands, and will make flat, hard cookies.
Enjoy!
